Improving digital teaching

Do you teach at the University of Stuttgart and want to improve the structure of your ILIAS course? In brief, one-hour workshops you will learn more about course design and ILIAS objects such as exercises and tests. You can then implement what you have learnt directly in your own ILIAS course.

The workshops can be attended independently of each other, depending on your level of knowledge and interest.

Welcome to ILIAS - Introduction and overview

Are you new to ILIAS? Then this is the right place for you.
You will get a brief overview of important aspects and central concepts of ILIAS for lecturers/staff, teaching assistants and tutors. You will also learn how to log in to ILIAS and get an overview of the general functions of ILIAS.

ILIAS Course Design 1 - What belongs on the course start page?

The start page characterises the first impression of your event and is also the place to go for information. Try out ways in which you can organise your start page clearly.
Don't want to design the page yourself? Then we will show you the university's course template. You can use it to create a good ILIAS course quickly and easily.

ILIAS Course Design 2 - How do I use the page editor?

Designing ILIAS courses in an appealing way requires resourcefulness and a little patience. Find out what options are hidden behind the "Design page" button. With the help of the page editor, you can create individual and appealing pages in ILIAS.

Learning progress checks and exam preparation in ILIAS (ILIAS test)

Determining learning progress can be a challenge during the semester. The ILIAS object Test can be a good tool for this. In this workshop, we will show you how to set up the ILIAS object Test for simple self-checks or for automatically graded assessments.
We will also cover the basic settings for different question types that can be used in online tests or quizzes.

Submissions made easy with ILIAS exercise

Exercises, homework, reflections, projects and other types of coursework are an important part of a course. By submitting the respective work, an assessment of the learning progress is made possible. In this workshop we will cover how to set up and use the ILIAS object Exercise, including downloading, viewing and grading submitted work.
