ILIAS development

User-orientated further development of the ILIAS learning platform

Improvement of the ILIAS learning platform based on the needs of users at the University of Stuttgart. Concrete improvement projects were developed in a community forum in our ILIAS for teaching and learning in dialogue with students and lecturers and were also derived from concrete needs that arose at the TIK in the operation and support of ILIAS.

The following projects have been funded to date:

  • Improvements to the taxonomy filter for test question pools (possibility to filter questions without assignment; for ILIAS 9)
  • The adaptation of the following ILIAS extensions (plugins) for ILIAS 8:
    • TestOverview (matrix display of the results of several tests)
    • AutoGenerateUsername (generation of ILIAS user names from first and last name)
    • LiveVoting (integrated audience response system)
    • MultiVc (ILIAS integration for Webex)

The main plans for 2024 are to finance fundamental, urgently needed modernisation measures for the important LiveVoting plugin, which is in very high demand, and to prepare all plugins used for ILIAS 9, which is due to be launched in September.

Due to the open source nature of ILIAS and the various plugins, the improvements are also available to all other universities in the ILIAS community that use the corresponding functions. A progress report on this digit@L sub-project is planned for the ILIAS South Community Meeting on 4 and 5 July 2024 at the University of Freiburg.

The project "digit@L - Digital Teaching and Learning at the University of Stuttgart: Boost. Skills. Support." is funded by the Stiftung Innovation in der Hochschullehre.
