Testing group concept mapping for a future vision for university teaching

(Re)thinking teaching at the University of Stuttgart

The change in university teaching due to technological innovations offers us at the University of Stuttgart a unique opportunity to redesign our teaching methods and orientate them towards the future. New technological achievements create seemingly unlimited possibilities for teaching and learning. These range from simple digital enrichment and the integration of AI applications to teaching/learning scenarios in a partially or completely virtual space. These developments will change teaching and learning at the University of Stuttgart in the short, medium and long term. These changes require adjustments to the structures and players at our university.

We are faced with the important task of rethinking the future direction of our teaching. What will teaching and learning at our university look like in the future, what should it look like that fully utilises the potential of our university (and beyond) and does justice to the mission statement and strategic goals of a sustainable society? We want to proactively offer space and opportunities today to think about teaching and learning at our university of tomorrow.

As part of the endeavour "Future vision of university teaching: (re)thinking teaching at the University of Stuttgart", we would like to jointly develop a vision for future teaching. Our aim is to think beyond the boundaries of digital teaching and take a holistic view of teaching and learning. By using Group Concept Mapping, a combination of different methods, we integrate all stakeholders involved in the teaching and learning process. In this way, a comprehensive picture of the future of teaching and learning can be drawn that incorporates the different perspectives of all those involved and provides valuable insights for planning and evaluation.
