Module 2: Academic Cooperation

Project SuCCESS24

Module 2 is about learning, deepening and passing on knowledge about waste management and the circular economy. This is done through the assignment of theses, which are supervised by the partner universities, through workshops with students but also with other stakeholders, through summer and winter schools and the exchange of lecturers from the universities.

Goals

  • Development of online lectures on recycling, waste management, circular economy and sustainability.
  • Content development by DAAD scholarship holders enriching existing lectures with results from Module 1.
  • In the end, the new lectures will be accessible for students of all three universities (Stuttgart, Addis Ababa, Accra).
  • Evaluation of:
    • Lectures
    • Workshops
    • Summer/Winter Schools
  • Drawing on experience from similar projects (the Indo-German Center for Sustainability (IGCS) and WASCAL programs)

Within the project, master's theses and Ph.D. projects are assigned and supervised by one or more universities. This cooperation is intended to strengthen intercultural relations and contribute to the findings and results of the research conducted in Module 1.

  • Postgraduates from all three universities will receive further training in the modalities of:
    • Workshops
    • Practical stays in Germany
    • Guest visits and guest lectures by German professors in Ghana and Ethiopia

→ This joint training aspires to strengthen North-South cooperation as well as South-South cooperation.

To achieve a sustainable result, different stakeholders from politics, economy, and others should participate in building knowledge to ensure that changes applied to the current and future waste management systems are in coherence with their surroundings. Workshops serve this purpose by organizing, communicating and discussing findings from Module 1.
