On October 1, 2025, the project INTERACT — Networked Teaching and Learning for the Future — begins its work. With it, the University of Stuttgart sends a clear signal for future-oriented teaching that prepares students for the complex challenges of an interconnected world.
The initiative is funded by the Stiftung Innovation in der Hochschullehre (STiL). With this approval, the foundation recognizes a concept that treats inter- and transdisciplinarity as central guiding principles of teaching and systematically embeds them across all bachelor's programs.
By the end of 2031, INTERACT will develop interdisciplinary project modules for bachelor's programs, integrated modules with combinable micro-modules, and a new interdisciplinary study program. This teaching architecture is accompanied by an AI-assisted support tool, targeted training for teaching staff, and an extensive transfer program that involves business, society, and other universities.
INTERACT builds on the established "Stuttgart Way" of inter- and transdisciplinarity and consistently develops it further. Led by Prof. Michael-Jörg Oesterle, the project team looks forward to the coming six years and to exchanging ideas with students, teaching staff, and external partners.
