RETHINKING BUILDING MATERIALS

Jun.-Prof. Dr.-Ing. Arch. Hanaa Dahy, ITKE, BioMat – Biobasierte Materialien und Stoffkreisläufe in der Architektur, Fakultät 1

Sommersemester 2020

To investigate new alternative and renewable materials applicable in the building industry and evaluate them through a 1:1 research demonstrator was the goal of the seminar.

The demonstrator represents a vision for modular sustainable architecture, where annually-renewable biobased materials are digitally additively fabricated to produce minimal surface modular units that are versatile and reusable in diverse geometric constellations. By applying annually renewable materials (natural fibers) the potential of materials with a lower carbon footprint is demonstrated.
